I'm not at the office, but this drive is an Apollo, and unless my memory proves me wrong, they have unique 4F module so rebuilding the "ROM" is extremely difficult/unlikely.
I've not had one in yet to play with you're normally right  Time under the scope it is then.

It is Apollo, but i doubt it is subject to the same issue Firebird/FBlite/Hubblexx has. Even it is, it can be done, the question is what the original issue was with the drive...

The HDD is a WD40EFRX.

The issue with the drive was a wrong power cable. Blow the diodes/fuses, and the repair guy decided to desolder the bios chip instead of the diodes.

Preamp damage is much less likely with this particular PCB. It's not affected by the old D3/R67 design stupidity.

Thx for clarifying, yes, i haven't checked this actual pcb, just suspected the same design flaw all older pcbs had :)

I can help if you can send the drive over, or contact Marc:http://forum.hddguru.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=5963 , he is in Belgium, a bit closer...
(not sure if distance makes a huge difference though)
