I faced the same problem before MQ01ABF050 models. Are those models still undiscovered for DR also MRT ?

By the way, I'm not sure if my donor is compatible.

MRT's SPT numbers in the zone table (?) are nonsensical. I suspect that MRT does not understand how to parse the relevant module. The numbers only seem to make sense if you convert them to hex and use the lower two bytes.

I suppose the lack of UA access is not just a simple case of password protection?

Probably, he simply forgot to run TechnoOFF. Under TechOn, drive is not going to give user area access due of 2nd translator. This is SMR drive.

At beggining sory my poor English. I would try to explain my problem.

Strange drive behaviour.
Today I had remote support by MRT tecnician.

This drive not geting ID directly. It have busy state. But I have force to connect Toshiba section whatever get error. After first attempt then I get full acces to drive SA. And then tecno off ,but still no access UA.
Tecnician opened common utility ( its in logic test section . like as in pic attached)
Than changed some of thems one by one.

I have recognised, data transfer led turned off (I mean that led on hardware. MRT Card). Checked drive . Spined off also.

Restarted drive. Not access SA, tried same method. But now 0 capacity. also not access to SA. Till read CP 33. When read CP 33 spindle getting on , turning and reading this module. I have checked DD (Plist) not look as original. different

I have decided to get image disk . Woha. I have imaged 30% of disk. But data shifted. ( not according to P list)
Tried Raw data recovery. That ok. so much small file are ok. But there is no good folder structure. and big files not oppening As expected .
Also tested sector 0 to 15. Not common things in it.
I am adding that also

I have tried change that smart adjustments again, some time I could see DD as original. But in that condition, I cannot read any user data.

By the way. Checked again with another good MQ04ABF100 drive. MRT not showing PList ,also G list. And as I added upper message zone list is not true. I know them so never touched this drives any CP .
I have original CP and ROM. But afraid to try write them . I have bad experiences with toshiba oldest models. Some drives turning DRIVE UNDER COSNTUTION after try to write all CPs .

Drives beginning problem is PCB also stucked head on platter.
Changed PCB (G411A), and swapped head.
I have another drive MQ04ABF0100. (G4311A ) Not checked if compatible yet
So need advices. Thanks.

It might help if you were to upload your resources, before and after the technician's changes.

The new DD module is longer than the original, but otherwise identical. In fact there are 0xF4F Plist entries, and these are present in both versions. The rest of the module is padding.

Code:
Offset(h) 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07

00000000  50 4C 00 28 4F 0F 20 4E  PL......
                      ^^^^^ number of defects = 0x0F4F
00000008  D1 3E 10 00 02 00 00 00
00000010  00 00 00 00 FF FF 30 00    <-- first defect
00000018  00 00 10 00 FF FF 30 00
........
Offset(h) 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07

00007A80  4D 11 10 25 FF FF 59 00    <-- last defect
00007A88  00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00    <-- terminator
00007A90  00 00 FF FF 00 00 FF FF    <-- padding

I'm wondering whether the additional sectors in the second version overwrote some other modules in the SA.

You have dumped only half the ROM. Is this one of those models with several serial flash memories?

Your new CP 33 is longer than the original. The additional data comes from the DD module (Plist). It seems that the MRT tech really messed up something???

Checked P list module DD same as before MRT now. But not getting P list as a list

APM:Advanced power management
PUIS:Power-Up In Standby

So drive spinning with power on now.

Atteched last condition CPs.
I would also compare before and last CP
( bye the way that bad DD size was 128. initial was 160. now it is again 160 and same as initial)

Now I can access all SA, But no access to User area. (same as before MRT tecnician work) Need advice for this condition.

About rom. If necessary I could read it with external reader.

I'm wondering whether the earlier differences in the CPs were due to user "error". I have noticed that PC3000 has a bug whereby it applies incorrect sizes when reading Toshiba CPs. Maybe MRT has a similar bug, in which case different sizes may be the result of selecting different families.

As far as I can tell, the "HDD feature settings" are written to CP 0xD0. These settings would not have affected your overall resource dump.

I don't know the function of CP 0xFE.

In short, I doubt that the MRT tech did any damage. The CP differences appear to be the result of selecting different families for each run.

    Selected family:MQ04ABF100 <- before MRT
    Selected family:MQ03ABF075 <- after MRT
    Selected family:MQ04ABF100 <- OK again

I don't see the G-list in any of your dumps.

If you can give me a full ROM dump, I can extract all the CPs for you, with their correct sizes. That will eliminate any confusion.

I extracted two G-lists for this model from the PC3000 files area of this forum. One G-list appears to have overflown the allotted space. This could be a bug in the firmware, or a bug in PC3K. Neither of these resource dumps had a ROM image, so I'm wondering if PC3K is deficient in this area.

Its true. was sellected MQ03 for a try. and my dump was at MQ03.

don't see the G-list in any of your dumps.

I never interested it before.

I have get ROM according to MRT's ROM reading settings . It was default size. Never played with that size before when getting ROM copy. Changed size to 0x1700 now.And trying to read all ROM if possible. But it takes long time.

If would't get Full Rom I would read it with external reader. Tomorrow I would attach ROM and G list for last situation. don't have thats dumps for other situations. (Learned this model has 1 Mb Rom). Tanks for all infos

Mostly I had trouble with MQ01ABF models also before. So I was actually very careful . Guessed he knows what he doing.

I would think that the G-list would be an essential module. A bad G-list might explain why you have no UA access.

Most of the CPs in your dump would be ROM resident.

A full track dump would be useful as well. That will tell us the true size of the G-list.

. Take a look at the p-list for the data shift too. I've only had 2 of these drives, looking at the profiles folder 1 has no cp's and a rom the other has a rom and no cp's.

Could you upload the ROM? I could parse it and extract the CPs.

Try reading that again. ;-)
