Do you test a brand new HDD for your home PC?

October 10th, 2021, 15:14

I just received my 2TB HDD Seagate. Should I run badblocks on it to write it entirely? It will take a long time and it may wear it down a little (I dunno).

Should I really do that??

EDIT: and a SSD??

You can if you want--you won't affect its life by any measurable amount if it's a hard drive. 8)
