samsung PCB bios swap?

October 18th, 2021, 7:31

Hello there,

I find myself in a bit of doubt lately, I'm acquiring a new SATA PCB BF41-00249B for this drive HM322IX (PCB BF41-00282A), Jared from DataMedics told me to use a sata PCB that is compatible but, I've no clue about how to swap the bios on this board.

But i can't find a guide or tutorial about this version of the PCB and i can't find a EEPROM 25xx or 24XX on the PCB.

Pictures of the drive attached

There's no external rom on this one, so you may read and write it to the donor board through serport only.

What is wrong with the original PCB? Sometimes there is an easy fix (eg cold solder joint).

the drive has very unstable connection with the rapidspar and usb add-on. As you can read below the log of the drive, it does click rarely, and the usb-add on powers down the drive. Then the drive becomes unavailable.

Serial port / UART / terminal.

oh i've got an USB device to that but never used...

In fact, it is possible to program the target board through SATA as well, once it comes readz, but you need to read it first. ...and will also need a flash loader, if you have no tools that support writing rom on this family.

Can anyone tell me how to solder the SATA port to this exact PCB???

I have same issue. It is very slow and having IO issues through USB. I want to convert that USB to SATA so i can plug it in PC3000 and run it from there

In general, locate the SATA Tx/Rx differential pairs that run between the bridge and MCU. There will be 4 capacitors somewhere along these traces. Remove these capacitors and solder your SATA wires at the MCU end of each capacitor. Use the equivalent SATA PCB to identify the order of these wires by following the path from MCU to SATA connector.

JM20329
21 - RXP(+)
22 - RXN(-)
25 - TXN(-)
26 - TXP(+)
Capacitors next to the chip JM2039.
They are usually unsoldered and placed (soldered) vertically on contact from the CPU.
SATA lines are soldered to the top contact.

Use this photo as a guide for the SATA Tx/Rx pairs.
