A newbie here, have mercy please ))
Hoped to cut some space with BB from this PMR beauty, to get around 1TB good space for media files, but can't even low level format this Seagate (that looks more like a Samsung with 57600 baud rate in terminal)
Would anyone help with decision on that drive and what can be done to make it more alive? No data recovery needed.
Sounds from a drive, possible to listen online without downloading:

That most right pin in lower row looks really darker than others, but it's very fragile and tiny, dont even know how to clean it.

It complains about top surface and by the sound of it, it doesn't appear to be very happy with its media condition.

I suggest you bin the drive and buy a new one, it's not worth the fuss.

Thank You for response! These 2.5" 2TB non-SMR drives are pretty rare now, so I decided (unsuccessfully tho) to reanimate some space from it. Do you think it is reasonable and possible to turn off certain head(s) to cope with this "sounds"? I heard that Samsung HDD Repair Tool can do it.

I don't know, I'm sorry, I don't have the tool you've mentioned. Maybe someone else can advise you.
True, you have to go back to 2016 models to find a 2.5" which is CMR :(
However, to be honest I think you're wasting your time. Your drive is obviously degraded and I doubt any tool could resurrect it without hardware intervention.

Good luck though!

Northwind,
I meant this tool:

Just trying to dig deeper for a "sportive interest", no commercial interest at all )
