New SAS drives not recognized by the Storage array

December 15th, 2021, 8:40

Hello,

I have a lot of drives (Model HUC101812CSS204 AND FW:HPD3) bought because it's the same model/fw as the drives already installed on the storage bay.

Unfortunately, drives are not recognized but work well in other servers.

I know that some storages arrays change the FW to accept only drives that you buy directly from them. If you try drives with the same model/FW that you buy directly from Seagate/Hitachi.. it will not work.

Can anyone provide insights on what SA modules we need to override in order to make them work on the Storage array/Server? The client bought 50 drives that are not working.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Kind regards
Lamine

I am not sure you will be able to read/write SA modules on those drives. They are CCB6

Hi DR-Kiev,

Thank you for your message.

I could read SA modules with PC3000 without any problem. but I don't know which module has been modified to accept only certain drives.

But I couldn't read SA tracks.

Any solutions please?

Kind regards,
