WD MyBook 12TB - WD120EDAZ-11F3RA0

January 3rd, 2022, 13:50

Hello,

I got this MyBook from customer using MacBook. He said HDD start to disappear from time to time and on Sunday it never came back.

I connect it to PC-3000, drive is ready, get ID, FW, no bad noise but it's not supported.

If I connect with WD USB bridge, drive appear in device manager but doesn't initialized, I can see capacity, that's it. R-studio can't find any partition, any data, anything...

I guess Drive is locked and I don't know what else I could try. Anyone had similar cases ?

Thanks
Spot

As this is an Hitachi Drive, I'll try to leave it on and connected over night to see if that helps.

Can you retrieve a SMART report? If not, then it could be that the drive cannot reach the SA.

Thank you for your input. No SMART in R-Studio.

You're not reading from the drive - PC3K shows ABR fetching smart, until you've solved that there's no point in even running rstudio. I've not had one of those in yet so can't be much help I'm afraid.

Does it show redondant "E5" value in R-Studio hex view?
It might be in this same situation

If so then most likely is a translator issue.
Without utility support can't be solved!
