Hello guys Im a bit worried because the 2TB HITACHI hdd (from 2010) I just bough from CEX it says 3068 days power on time, thats like 8 years and a half. and also it says more than 100 days Estimated remaining lifetime while all of my other drives say more than 1000 days. Im planning to use this hdd as a secundary drive to store games. Should I be worried, whats the best way to test the hdd is funcioning correctly and is the remaining lifetime shown on HDsentinel accurate ?

Don't be worried man if your SMART is not showing any critical error!
So show us your SMART data.

From my opinion, having an used drive of 80 000 hours without error is better than a new drive where you don't know where you go...
So if your drive is in perfect state, take care of it and you are going to break some power on time record.

This estimated lifetime is useless for your drive.

At your place, to right test it, I will done:
- full write and then full read with Victoria, analyze the result about error and very slow sectors.
- SMART extended test that can be started with smartctl, verify the test have completed 100%.
- you got a good drive if no new error have appeared in the SMART report.
