ST1000VX005-2EZ102 CV11 - Reading in Pattern

June 3rd, 2022, 7:55

ST1000VX005-2EZ102 F/W: CV11 in Mrt detected as Luxorlite10 but can't read ROM in BootCode.

If i select LuxorLite then can read and Patched(Luxorlite10) and write(Luxorlite).

HDD comes with 2 clicks and Spin Down. After changing headmap to 01 01 hdd started and ID with full Capacity.

When i try to image in DE, it reads in particular pattern like in the Picture ( Can't describe so only Picture)
Reading Patern.jpg

Success and Skipped areas are in Pattern. (RED Black Yellow maps Cleared). Reading Speed is also good in those success Area.
This already happened in 3 cases of the same family, In all these 3 only H1 (H0 Bad) is used to start hdd.

H0 is bad in SA but read in UA.

Head change may solve the issue, but why it reads and skips in particular manner

H1 zones are being read and H0 zones are being ignored.
The images show the reading of only one head.

I suspect that H0 is simply bad, that's why you see a bad pattern
And the head map you built for the drive is likely incorrect, that's why you THINK that H0 can ready but it actually cannot.
