Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I bought a 6TB 12G HD off ebay with a broken connector. The plastic part is broke. I was able to plug a SAS to SATA adapter into it and thus hook it up to a PC and the HD is fine. Only problem is the broken plastic.
How hard is the plug to replace? Any special tools required? Can I use the connector from a 6G drive or are 12G and 6G different?
TIA
