Planning to do a head replacement since the HDD is making clicking sounds and is not being detected in windows. Want to revive it as it contains some useful data.

Have seen some vids on youtube and i am pretty sure i will be able to replace it using another donor drive. Just facing one issue atm, the Head comb code for this specific Hdd. It has 2 platters and 4 heads. If anyone knows the specific "head comb" code number for this drive, Kindly let me know.

(Saw this video on youtube with code 104#, but the model in this video is a bit different)

These should do. I doubt you will successfully recover your data though, I suggest you contact a local DR lab.

Are you sure these are the right ones for the job? In the description it says,

The package contains 2 tools: for drives with 1 platter and 2 heads, and for drives with 1 platter and 1 head.

The drive which i have(ST31000524AS) has 2 platters and 4 heads,plus this kit is super expensive. I am sure the plastic head combs with different codes for different drives available on Ebay should do the trick as well and they are dirt cheap. But just not sure which code will work with my specific HDD model.

This is the correct tool:

I doubt the plastic cheap crap tools will work.
It also needs some experience to swap heads correctly on these.

@baz00ka
It is a good idea to practice on a dummy drive first.
Many people screw up because they underestimate the complexity.
Do you also have some sort of cleanroom environment to prevent dust particles getting inside the drive?
