Is it possible to recover data from a bad Seagate 1 TB hard drive (ST31000524AS)? If it is installed normally as internal hard drive, the computer would not be able to boot. If it connected to a hard drive enclosure with the top case opened, it produces five short beeps for around ten times as recorded in the video below:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/nfxgqmczrb18zde/20220710_153547.mp4/file

I only have basic computer background and am too poor to pay for external service.

Thank you for any opinions.

did it help you at all to open the disc cover?

I opened it because I had tried every attempt (I could thought of) without opening it. And then, I wanted to know if the head was stuck somewhere on the platter, so I opened it.

Sadly, it only helped to destroy data :-(

What would you have suggested if I had not opened it?

Watching the video posted in the above link is one of the most horrific experiences i've had in a while. Poor drive turns data to dust in real time.

I have no idea, all you’ve said is that now you’ve opened it and run it with the lid off it beeps.

Was it beeping or clicking before?

No mention of the original fault, but that’s pretty much academic now you’ve tinkered with it.

If the data is of value, set it aside until you can afford a pro or toss it.
