Maxtor D740X-6L (Quantum-based) in my test system suddenly died. It does not spin up, activity LED on the PCB blinks 5 times (then pause and repeats). What does it mean? Flash corruption?

Have a look here:
https://www.acelab.ru/dep.pc/otherproducts.phpI believe this model has a UART port which outputs diagnostic information.
If you upload a photo of the PCB, I can help you identify the voltage test points, if necessary.

Thanks. When it didn't work, I've checked some voltages - found 5V and 12V (of course), then 3.3V and something like 1.9V. Then I touched the RAM or CPU and it started to work. I've copied everything to another HDD. Now I have to wait until it fails again...

See page 26:
https://www.acelab.ru/dep.pc/doc.pc3000dos/060713.001/Quantum_EL-AS_v3.pdfThere appear to be two linear regulators -- 3.3V, 1.7V. There also appears to be a switchmode regulator, presumably to generate the -5V (?) supply for the preamp.

It failed again. And came back to life after touching RAM and power cycling. And failed again after a while as it heated up. Resoldered RAM and no more failures since then.
