Yes they are.

Pro tip: if data is valuable send it to a pro.

These are compatible
These drives are also infamous for developing media damage.

Just make sure the heads map and PCB are the same.

The heads map is the same, the PCB is not but it's ok

How you can be sure about the heads map?
I have been a few times in situations where the model, site code, and serial number first 3-digits match, and still they are using different amounts of heads. This is not common with Seagate drives, but it's surprisingly common with WD drives. :?:

When that happens you are dealing with a refurbished drive (the one with less heads)

Because I have more than 20 years of experience.

Wrong ,
Seagates are worse ,WD are a charm to work with

If possible, you should check the little white sticker on the head connector (need to open the drive). If it's similar (Patient AGR, donor AGR... and not LSI) it will work.

AG means Agere, which actually was purchased by LSI, which was later purchased by Broadcom
AG=LSI=BR - it's literally the same thing.

I have two patient, one donor.

Patient 1 ST2000DM001, 1ER164-044, Z8E preamp B6
Patient 2 ST2000DM001, 1ER164-044, Z8E preamp B6

Donor 1 ST2000DM001, 1ER164-021, Z8E premap B6

All are TK.
Patient 1 head connector sticker= GR4-B AG-R
Patient 2 head connector sticker = GR4-C LSIB2-M
Donor head connector sticker = GR4-B AG-K

Donor is working for Patient 1, not with Patient 2. Back to patient 1, still working. Took a donor with LSIB sticker, it works.

Is Texas Instrument part of it as well ? Maybe I am wrong but it's something I look after and so far it really helps, maybe just luck then.

Seagate changes heads (the actual RW elements) periodically, so this could be the reason why, check the DOM. Unfortunately this information can only be obtained through trial-and-error or through Seagate's internal database (which is not for us mortals).
Moreover the 1ER164 drive is another family with far more problems than the drive in the topic.

Texas Instrument would be marked as TI and it won't be B6
