Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I have a spyglass hard drive that if I disable module 0x02 in rom and load it manually it detects it and I can read the user data by sata but they appear encrypted.
Can I do the same process with the USB controller or is there a way to decode the data over SATA?

Hi,
For data copying, the Spyglass disk boot process must not be interrupted in any way.
You can lock module 02 to download SA modules, but to copy data module 02 must be unlocked.

Thanks for the reply.
I understand that, what happens is that if I don't block the 0x02 in ROM I don't have access to data.
If I lock 0x02 to ROM and then manually load it if I have data access.
The problem is that when working with the SATA controller I get the encrypted data.

"The problem is that when working with the SATA controller I get the encrypted data."
Because the original MCU on USB PCB decrypts the data.

You need USB connection, or... You can try and move the MCU to the SATA board.

Thanks for the answers.
I am going to move the cpu to the sata controller.
In a few days I will comment on the results.

i would rather not touch the MCU, coz it won't be possible to decrypt the data if anything goes wrong with the transplant.
Convert the board to SATA instead.

Thank you for your answers.
In the end I have made the adaptation from usb to sata which is very simple. I have made 2 hard drives with 810035 and 800041 boards and both decode data without doing anything.
Later I tried the processor exchange, I did it at 250 0ºC and then I resoldered it with tin at 138ºC, for this I used a preheater.

Do you mind a link to your preheater?
Thanks.

https://es.aliexpress.com/item/40012761 ... Redirect=yTo detach the rom chip I do it with 138ºC tin and the soldering iron, then I leave them on 138ºC tin and resolder them with hot air at 165ºC, so that the plate does not suffer every time I solder and desolder.
