Hard Disk Not Displayed in “This PC”

When I connect my hard disk to a computer through a USB port, it is not recognized and displayed in “This PC” (where all drives and partitions displayed).
However, the disk is recognized and displayed in the system’s Disk Management program ("Create and format hard disk partitions").
Does anyone know what the reason may be why the hard disk is not displayed in “This PC”?
