WD 1TB 2.5" Palmer Family (2nd translator module issue)

September 8th, 2022, 0:47

Hi,

I have a problem with WD 1TB slim 2.5" hard drive (Palmer family), and hopefully, someone here can help me out.

Patient drive.
WD10SMRW-11Y43S0

Donor drive.
WD10SDRW-11A0X50

The patient was clicking, so I did replace the heads and used the unlocking board (ROM chip swapped) and I was able to get the access to module area now. However, the second translator module looks like is corrupted, which means all the blocks are shown as 'zeros'.

Is there any chance to get the data from this drive?

Help with this one would be highly appreciated! TIA!

I can do it, if you want to outsource.

Thanks, but outsourcing is not possible.

In MRT there is an option to dump T2 translators from module 190 and load just T2 (not all mod 190) on ram.
I believe that pc3k should have something similar.

Hi Michael,

Thank you! I do appreciate your help! I will definitely try this out, and see if it works.
