Hello,
I'm looking for SD15 firmware for 2 platter Moose. I found only for 3 a and 4 platters. I need the version flashable with fdl464 (988 KB?)

SD15 is SD15 no matter the headmap in ROM. What are you up to?

I think he's searching the official loader from seagate for updating fw from version SD15 to SD1A.
Probably because seagate is not supporting fw updating of these old drives anymore?

If so, search it here:
http://files.hddguru.com/download/Firmw ... s/Seagate/

download file:
MooseDT-SD1A-2D-8-16-32MB.iso
Direct link: http://files.hddguru.com/download/Firmw ... 6-32MB.iso

Create bootable usb key with Rufus (it will erase all your data on the usb key)
https://rufus.ie/

Use UltraISO to extract the boot file from the ISO (is simple, just open the the iso file in UltraISO and click on "Save Boot File" menĂ¹)
https://www.ultraiso.com/

Output file will be in BIF format (1,4 MB)
Now open it in UltraISO and extract the content into a folder inside the bootable key (folder name must be less than 8 characters, call it SD1A)

Turn off your pc and disconnect all your drives from it, keep attached only your Moose drive that needs to be updated.
Turn on the pc and make it boot from usb key in legacy mode.
In the DOS prompt give command:
cd SD1A
then give coomand
AUTOEXEC.BAT

the update process will start, follow instructions...

When finish, power off PC, reattach all your other drives, remove usb key and start your pc.

WARNING:
Before updating fw, backup all your data on a second drive!
FW update doesn't solve issues as bad sectors on surface, it could cause further problems!

"2DSD1A.LOD" is the .lod file for the 2-disc models.

The loader file i've found in the iso is called:
SD1A2D.LOD

is this wrong?

That update package is different than the one I downloaded from Seagate's website years ago, so that would account for the difference. Your update doesn't have a .cfs file, so it relies on the user to make correct choices.

Also, Seagate did issue a faulty update which bricked people's drives, and they then quickly withdrew it and replaced it.

I've found the iso on seagate official site, it's the same of that has uploaded on guru firmware section:
https://www.seagate.com/support/kb/firm ... -207951en/

Direct link (2 platter Moose):
https://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/sup ... 6-32MB.iso

Probably seagate did a big mistake years ago that has been fix.

ISTR that SD15 was affected by the "BSY bug". I can't understand why anyone would want to install it.

Probably he updated to SD1A and something went wrong... now he's thinking that can fix it by downgrading back to SD15.
