Hi everyone,

It is common knowledge that after removing the plates from the disk (e.g. after the engine is seized, dirty, etc.) we must set the coaxial markers (with the number of plates 2+).

But we must also remember to the hard drive motor balance them.
While looking for information on this topic, i came across this link:

I also met a lot of different opinions on the web about the methods that are used by this company.
Apparently, the tips contained there sometimes work - and sometimes they don't...
I don't want to pay for information that may not be useful to me.

Does anyone have any feedback on these methods?

I didn't own this one, but as i bought their platter cleaning table and was really disapointed, they showed me their training videos how to clean platters... in a drive, not on their crappy table. So i don't think they have any good content to buy.
Also i never had any problems i would call "balance issues" when moving platters to a new drive. Just make sure they are aligned.

I now have an 8-head seagate on the table, where 2 head sliders are on the ends of the positioner, another one (3) is glued on the top surface, and the rest (5 pcs.) somewhere between the platters ...
I'm afraid that this is another seagate that will have problems with starting - after removing the plates ...
I had no problems with WD, but with Seagate many times ...

If you keep the alignment and SA is readable this shouldn't be a problem.

I would not worry about your seagate.
If you fine with WD try to take out platters from something like wd1600jc-55ncb1 and put them back. I am sure you will surprise your self.

I wanted to see which tools Dolphin provides to "balance" the discs (I think I did this years ago).

At first, he clicked a bit, showed off a bit in the terminal (as Seagate) - but he stabilized and moved on.
