Hi,
can anyone help identifying the problem of my hard drive based on the sound it makes?
the hhd is a Barracuda 7200 rpm, 500gb
link to video:
https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipMaM-PDFH5Ysq5p8zRY0hsohPRG0Wv81416445KWxfHzllDNAM8CrqaRVzBoj8nPw?key=VE55di0yMVdGdE91a2FPdnFPSEJlbGZIdU0tVV9R

I have already:
1- connected the hard drive internally to a pc to rule out PCB problems
2- have opened the drive to check if it was a stuck head. The head was not in the start position but did not seem stuck. I moved the head to the start position but to no effect.

Thank you for any suggestion.

Motor is seized. Common Failure of those Drives.

Give it to a DR-Company when the Data is critical. It was a big Fail to open the Drive by yourself, so it will be a way more expensive.

Data is not critical but important nevertheless. Not sure worth thousands euros. Therefore I am taking a diy approach.
But thanks for the hint on where the fail can be.

Before you opened it under non-cleanroom-conditions and scratching the surface by moving the hsa with your bare-hand, it would have been only a few hundred euros.

Every step you will made by yourself now, brings you near to the total loss of the data. Then even a data-recovery-company can help you anymore (just saying).
