Hello everyone, I'm new to the group.
I have a seagate barracuda st1000dm003 hdd where the motor runs fine but is not recognized by the pc. practically I also tried to connect it via usb adapter but it is not read at all. it is also not read by seagate software.
Do you have any recommendations?
thanks a lot to everyone

Probably you've not connected the adapter correcly or you're using old type adapter which works at 5V
You need a 3.3V adapter so that you'll be able to see log on terminal when the drive get powered, however most likely you will not able to send any command to this drive due to possible terminal lock.
In this case the only way to recover your data is to use pro tools that will be able to unlock the terminal.

Does the drive produce any abnormal sounds as head clicking and motor spin down?
If is that the case then the problem is more serious.

it does not produce any kind of abnormal sounds.
i was seeing online that you need a cable to unlock the disk with commands.
Can you give me information about it or give me a link with a tutorial?
THANK YOU

You can buy this
https://www.ebay.it/itm/254297800149

it can work at 3.3V, but most likely you will be able only to see log in terminal only when powering on the drive.
If you send some command as /CQ in F3 T> you might see log "Diagnostic Port Locked"... in such case you will need professional (expensive) tools to work with.

However, even if you will be able to interact into terminal you will be very limited.
A lot of things can't be done by just sending terminal commands, and if you send wrong command or not appropriate command you might screw up any chance to recover your data.

if you mean commands like m0,2,2,,,,,22 that is not unlock for terminal but is for busy state issue unlock (translator regenaration) for older drives. You might make things much worse if you send that command to your type of drive.
