After my computer stopped recognizing my external hdd I opened the cover to see if my head is stuck on HDD plates but it didn't. It was parked.
After returning the cover and put all screws back I noticed heads are not moving anymore, only disks are spining. It sits in parked position and not moving at all. I tried also with another circuit board from the same hdd but it is the same.
Before opening I'm sure heads were moving because I could hear them.
Any idea what causes head not moving?

what is the model of the drive?
I recall some families did not move head if they weren't connected to a SATA host.
I have only faint memories about G9 or H9 drives checking head resistances before moving heads, but it was long time ago, i should really make it sure before i say so...

This disk was always used as external over USB so I never tried it with SATA host.

first make sure you can move the head assembly freely up and down the ramp but not onto the platters, if the HSA are still stuck then it means something inside the drive is causing this and not the pcb
