Heya experts
So last year i bought a top of the line gaming pc, i9 13900k, rtx 4090, etc And it came with a 2tb kingston SSD, and a 4tb seagate HDD
In january 2024 the HDD got flagged for "Hard Disk Failure Imminent. Please back up your hard disk and have it replaced."
So as i couldn't really afford to spend multiple days without a drive i figured it was just faulty and bought a new 8tb HDD from seagate again
This was 45 days ago ish.
Today, the brand new 8tb hdd only after 45 days one again gave me the "Hard Disk Failure Imminent. Please back up your hard disk and have it replaced."
So this time around im wondering if its really faulty or something else is going on here?
I disabled SMART on bios to get in, the HDD is currently working fine (my goal was to backup the HDD) and i also figured id run a health check from seagates software, And i get : "Spin Retry Count Failed Normalized - 97 Worst - 97 Threshold - 97 Raw - 0"
So my question is, could this HDD NOT be faulty, and something else be going on here? Could something in my pc be weirdly damaging my hard drives? Im afraid of just replacing it again and it breaking another hdd
