Broken WD30EZRZ, want to fix, any help very much appreciated

March 23rd, 2024, 13:55

So I was helping a friend with an upgrade and ran out of sata power connectors, and it has an Antec modular power supply, and accidentally used an EVGA power cable. Both are 6 pin and it fit in fine, but obviously its wired differently (doh). And so now the hard drive wont even spin.

I am hoping a circuit board replacement can fix it and have ordered one, but that could take a few weeks and my friend is very pissed off, so I'm wondering if there are any components I can test, solder on, that may fix it before the replacement comes? I am not an electronics guy, but have a multimeter and have soldered/desoldered many things in the past when knowing what to do.

If I could be given some candidates on what parts I might want to test (and how to test) or replace that would be wonderful. I cannot see any damage to any parts, and no burn marks on the foam it was pressed up against either.

Thank you very much for anything you might be able to help with

Ignore post. Found answer elsewhere. I would delete, or even edit post, but I cannot find those functions.
