FAQ

Before perusal of this document ПРОЧТИТЕ the DOCUMENTATION.

Q1: whether Is able MHDD to work with UDMA controllers, such as CMDXXX, HPTXXX?
A: Yes, from version 2.8.0.

Q2: MHDD constantly is hung up, throws out in DOS with a mistake.
A1: Remove attributes Read-Only from files mhdd.cfg, mhdd*.*. If does not help, remove all files in the catalogue in which is MHDD, leave only mhdd.exe.
A2: Probably, current disk (from which start MHDD is made) is overflown or protected from record.
A3: Probably, you try to test the program the same HDD on which it physically is (it is inadmissible).

Q3: whether Works MHDD under Windows?
A: cases of successful loading MHDD under any version Windows Are known.

Q4: And why at scanning a disk I see such:?????????????????????... Why so on a regular basis there are delays? Or it is a glitch mhdd?
A: It not a glitch. These are the moments of positioning of heads on a following track.

Q5: Has started MHDD to check up HDD. Everything, like, anything, бэдов is not present, but speed HDD after tests became 3MB/with.
A: you Check up socket IDE on the winchester have broken one of the central conclusions (near to absent)

Q6: Why the program does not see winchesters on channel Primary?
A: Glance in file MHDD.CFG, there there is a special variable which influences work with the first channel. Change only value of a variable, a symbol "#" to delete it is not necessary.

Q7: whether the program with Serial ATA (SATA) Works?
A: Work SATA of the controller differs nothing from work IDE of the controller. Therefore SATA controllers are supported.

Q8: MHDD does not see mine HDD.
A1: Be convinced, that the manufacturer of your parent payment - not Intel. Payments from Intel block access to IDE to ports in some cases.
A2: If diagnosed HDD it is connected to channel Primary, you all over again need to unblock this channel. Edit file MHDD.CFG (replace value of a key #PRIMARY_ENABLED with FALSE on TRUE. But to test the program the same HDD on which it physically is it is inadmissible (will lose data).

Q9: MHDD hangs at детекте the winchester.
A: Be convinced, that loading a diskette it is created инсталлятором MHDD.

Q10: How to get rid of "red" or "brown" blocks? How to get rid from бэдов?
A: To use erase, then scan+erase waits if has not helped - scan+remap.

Q11: whether procedure remap Destroys the information?
A: the Answer concerns only programs MHDD: no, does not destroy, as the information in sector and so it is lost. Т.е, the information in бэд-sector is destroyed even to procedure remap.

Q12: whether Destroys information EraseWaits?
A: Yes, destroys, as erases blocks, mentioning good sectors.

Q13: whether It is possible to make посекторный EraseWaits?
A: No, differently it will be practically the same ремап.

Q14: whether It is possible to make "compulsory" remap to the "red" block?
A: If the above-stated recommendations have not helped, are not present. The decision about ремапе accepts the store, instead of MHDD. If the proscale did not manage to ask to make the winchester remap, that, alas, to not do anything with it.

Q15: I test a disk by means of chkdsk or ndd or scandisk, they inform on presence bad block'ов. But at check MHDD бэдов is not present (were, but now is not present). How it to correct?
A: On a disk (once) were bad block'и, and OS them has marked in the tables. However, сбойные sectors have been renominated (a disk, or by means of MHDD). But from tables of file system nobody cleaned them. Here some variants:
1. To make bad sectors recheck in Partition Magic
2. To clean бэды hands by means of diskedit'а
3. Переразметить a hard disk anew.

Q16: I have killed the winchester using MHDD! What to me to do?
A: the Most bad idea - to write to the author (the answer will not be - 100 %). The most good - to ask the help in forums on mhdd.com. And, in general, it is necessary to read all over again the documentation,in fact warned.

Q17: MHDD swears Runtime Error...
A: Be convinced, that you have read through the documentation in section where it is described as correctly to start MHDD. Also, see above (Q2). If has not helped - address on a forum mhdd.com, in details describing a problem.

Q18: the Program does not see my winchester!
A: Try to press SHIFT+F3, and, in general - run a march to read the documentation. CLOSELY. Also do not forget to put the store in mode MASTER.

Q19: the Winchesters connected to controller Promise SX4000 or SATA150TX2/TX4 do not see the program.
A: Unfortunately, also will not meet...

Q20: At start from the carrier protected from record all is normal, but at an output the program swears on a mistake of record. What to do?
A: Use a key/RO for switching-off of attempt of record. Similar, it is a glitch of compiler FreePascal.

Q21: Why in the list of the certain controllers my controller appears two times?
A: Actually, it, certainly, one. But, as, in this controller some channels are realized, the decision to deduce the information on each channel as on the separate device was accepted.

Q22: What mean results скана?
A: Presence red (> 500ms) blocks on completely healthy store is inadmissible. If they are, it is necessary to make deleting (erase) all surface of a disk and if it has not helped to get rid of delays, possible to do conclusions, that the given store has ceased to be reliable enough. Буквенно-symbolical blocks, for example, "x" or "S", etc., are inadmissible. They speak about presence BAD of blocks on a surface. The first, that should be made is a full clearing of a surface by a command erase. If it has not helped, scan with included option EraseWaits. If Bad blocks and have not disappeared, it is necessary to start scan with included option Remap.

Q23: What does periodically appearing letter W mean at скане?
A: It means, that you have included mode EraseWaits, and in this place there was a deleting 255 sectors owing to a delay.

Q24: What means the dark blue block?
A: It means, that you have included mode Remap, and in this place it and has occured.

Q25: On my store there are defects. Prompt algorithm of repair.
A: the Step 1. Deleting by command ERASE. A step 2. Скан with Erase Waits. A step 3. Скан with Remap.

Q26: On my store each block defective, any of the offered procedures of repair does not help.
A: Most likely, a problem not in a surface, and in the destroyed service area or a faulty mechanical part.

Q27: At me a problem with installation/removal HPA.
A1: Such happens, when the store is connected through external (PCI) ATA the controller. The reasons of the given phenomenon meanwhile are not found out, but is similar, that there is it because of constant interrogation by a payment of the store.
A2: problems with some parent payments, which Were found out, at each loading establish HPA and any data store there. To remove HPA on such parent payment, it is necessary to distort before start of procedure NHPA a feed to the store. However, it will work onlyup to next перезагрузки: the parent payment will establish HPA again. More in detail about it look here: http://mhddsoftware.com/forum/viewtopic ... &start=387 here again: http://mhddsoftware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3959

Q28: Скан on SCSI Seagate any suspiciously slow.
A: It was found out, that at stores Seagete SCSI anticipatory reading, read look ahead is by default disconnected.

Q29: the Volume of winchester Samsung for some reason became 32ГБ what to do?
A: Check up crosspieces. In the instruction (and on a label of the store) they are represented a little illogically, be extremely close.

If it has not helped, make the following:

1. Create a file in catalogue SCRIPTS with a name, for example, restore (without expansion)

2. In it write the following:

regs = $C0 $00 $00 $00 $00 $E0 $B1
waitnbsy
checkerr

Keep a file, start MHDD, choose a disk and order:
.restore

After that, if the program will not inform on any mistake, the initial configuration of the store will be restored.

Q00:У Me there were questions...
A: Be convinced, that at you last version MHDD, прочтите the documentation. If questions have remained, set them, please, at a forum of a site http://mhddsoftware.com
