Hello to the experts,
Is it possible to flash this HDD with FW version 0104 or 0103 to version 4305 without any problems or is this FW incompatible?
Thank you

Do you have a link to any of the firmware versions? If all the firmware resides in ROM, as in earlier models, then it should be possible to flash any version without problems, I would think. However, if there are code overlays in the SA, then there would be some risk.

Hello,
I have the link here
https://files.hddguru.com/download/Firm ... d_4305.exeI also found this firmware on Lenoveo and also a tj73.ftd, but it couldn't be flashed with OpenSeaChest.
I have a problem with one of my drives where the smart test just stops at 10%.

I examined the .ftd payload files for a few Toshiba updates. They don't look like the ROM images in earlier models, so I don't know whether they are SA overlays or ROM code. I would have to see a ROM dump before I could try to make sense of it, assuming I can. Some of the .ftd files are significantly larger than 1MB, so the ROM would need to be 2MB to accommodate them.

There appear to be different revisions of these drives. For Rev. A2 the last FW appears to be 0104. I got new drives of the same type these days with Rev A3 and firmware 4305. They are probably not compatible. I received the FW 0104 from Toshiba today. I would be happy to make them available here if anyone needs them.

In an email from Toshiba I was told that the drives with FW 43** are not EMEA drives. So they are intended for sale outside of Europe. They couldn't tell me whether they were identical, except that installing the 01 FW was at your own risk. Can someone say where the differences are in the revisions of the FW?
