 Post subject: Toshiba N300 HDWG21C - Simple BIOS chip transfer possible?

Anyone know if it is/isn't possible to just transfer the chip on these?

Is this a qualified diagnosis such as you know the pcb has an issue or are you trying to apply the common internet myth that swapping a pcb will solve all problems?

Does this PCB have 4 "ROMs"?

I have someone asking about repair (not recovery) on 2 of these with the connectors and all pads lifted, so swapping to an intact board is obviously preferable to patching them up.

I'll ask them to confirm ICs 5-7, but looks like it probably does.

IMO it would be easier and safer to hardwire the power and data lines. But that begs the question, was the drive subjected to physical trauma, and is there a likelihood of internal damage?

Hi ,
i dont remember but it as only one chip out of the several that i swapped and the donor board worked ,But you can also swap al of them whats the big deal do it one by 1
