what do you use for testing repaired hdd?

i would like to know what utilities you use for tests after repair, to be sure that the hard drive will function normally.

one method i am familiar with, and it may seem a little silly, is filling up the hdd with an image of windows + data up to the end of the drive, leaving only little space for swap, and starting windows.

Manufacturer's zero fill programs are probably a good bet.

I use MHDD for this function but then i don't put repaired drives into the market.

I copy movies and mp3's in the repaired drive (as many as possible) under Windows (UDMA mode), not DOS. It is much faster than zerofill and MHDD because they use PIO mode. After that I make a full scan by MHDD and evaluate the readability of the drive. If it is fine I run the manufacturer's diagnostic program. If the drive passes all tests I put it on the market.

i had hard drives that had perfect surface and passed manufacturer's test,
but windows xp failed to install. don't understand why?

bgman - wouldn't it be better to use some utility that does all sorts of read, writes, seeks and forces the hard drive to maximum work for half an hour or so?

hehehehehe, and they say a lot to me.

Just read the MHDD features and propose, please.
And use it to test the disks.

And here we go:

THANK YOU DMITRI FOR MORE THIS MHDD RELEASE.
