Hello everyone. I don't care about the data, my files were already moved. Just needing to get it unlocked, wiped, nuked, whatever it needs to be usable again.
Drive Details:
Model: WD10EURX-63UY4Y0
Date: 12 OCT 2015
DCM: HANNNT2CHB
Master Password Revision Code: 49047
Current Status (from hdparm -I):
Security: supported, enabled
Status: NOT frozen
Security Level: High
What I have tried:
I have attempted to perform an ATA Security Erase using hdparm via a Linux Live USB. I have tried the following master passwords (with correct 32-character padding/quotes):
WDC WDC WDC WDC WDC WDC WDC WDC
WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWD
WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCW
32 'X's and 32 spaces.
The Issue:
Every attempt returns: SG_IO: bad/missing sense data. The drive is definitely not frozen, but it rejects these standard WDC strings.
Does anyone know if this specific revision (49047) uses a different Dell OEM master password or a specific factory string? Any guidance on how to bypass this lock for drive reuse would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
I have attached a photo of the drive label and the full hdparm -I output for reference.
