hello, im realy a newbie and not to good in english, so please tell me with an easy way. my SEAGATE U6 ST340810A suddenly stop spinning right after 3 years, and there where no clicking sound and the S.M.A.RT say my drive capable and OK. anyone can tell me how to repair this HDD?? maybe just FW error?? or anyone can tell me how to flash an FW? and if it needed to open the HDD, how to release the rubber case?? it cover the screw. sory my bad english.. thanks

Hi,
THe very first thing must be checking the controller board. If it is defective, there is nothing to do with the mechanics, try to find a similar drive with the same FW revision and replace the board.
if this doesn't solve the problem, write here to the forum for further possibilities.

oh, when i pace it upside down, the drive spin again, but windows not detec the partition, and recovery software still detect the partition, but i cant scan for recoverable files, it say error reading sector xxxxx

If its spinning , you have to copy the drive to another one ( same size )
you have to be happy that the drive is spinning ..... make the copy quick
you have maybee bad sectors and the spindle motor or the bearing
will be dead soon... use the program "copyr" to copy the disk
you will find it in the previous topics
