Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

A few years ago I went against my better judgement and bought a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 60G drive. After reading through this forum I believe I have the classic Maxtor Microcode failure.
The drive is a DSP based 5T060H6.
Can anyone tell me where to find the microcode and how to flash the drive?

Hi Maci,
I'm afraid, you have obtained a very missleading impression about the HDD repair. There many places you can find a microcode for your drive (see zirochka.com for example), but you cannot just flash it! HDD is not a CD-ROM or motherboard - just flash the right microcode and voila. You may save much time if you contact a specialist in this field to do the job for you.
Best regards
