hi there, i'm new in this forum, maybe anyone can help me to solve my problem ?
why this happen ?
Why, ?.
Like most drives this maxtor has no brain, but when it gets some
power things start to happen.
The control of the things happening begins with automatic start
of some program built into some ic on the pcb.
The program must do some checks to see that it can proceed to load
some information into memory located on pcb.
During these steps the Maxtor design includes some data on the disk
surface which is hidden from the user - service area (SA)
There are some important pieces of data in the SA which must not only read, but also read correctly and match some checking method which is
included in the starting program.
If everything checks out the drive can begin to work.
In your case, probably what has happened is some data in the SA
either cannot be read or reads incorrectly.
Most drive manufacturer's do not have the time to add some nice
answers about what is wrong with the drive - so they just send a signal
to the bios - which can report - ..... disk failure.
MHDD has some bulbs - status and error registers - which can give some idea of what is wrong with drive and also gives a little more information.
this MHDD information can be helpful in deciding possible faults with the drive, but in your case cannot fix the problem.
So you have some idea of why this happen.
Now you can try to find out what has happened because what happened
can be more than one thing.
Once you can work to find out what happened you can then
work to find out how, what happened can be fixed.
When you know all of this you will never buy Maxtor again.
