Maxtor PCB replacement advice

February 10th, 2007, 15:00

I have a:
Maxtor 6l300R0 - (300 GB PATA 133) Diamondmax 10
Main Controller CPU 040121400(agere BEAGLE D4-D4)
HDD Motor Combo IC L7250E 1.2
Board Number 302007102
Memory Firmware A8GLA Code: BAH41G10

The HDD Motor Combo is 'burnt' & I am guessing at the ID info -

and tried swapping the PCB out with one that was the same as the above except the Main Controller was an E4-D4. The BIOS did not recognize the drive... it spins, no other noises - so I am I hoping the drive is still OK.

My questions are:
Should I try another PCB?
What has to match to be a compatible PCB?
Have any suggestions on where to find a matching PCB???

Thanks in advance,

John

Firmware was different on the replacement PCB - will that make a difference?
