My problem is that the drive head is clicking and the bios doesn't recognize it! I have a good drive and I have this bad drive. Both drives are all the same. I haven't got the PC3000 board. Is there a programe with which I can repair it?

hi kefe,

do you know how to check hdd?

FRISTLY YOU SHOULD CHECK HDD .......

CHECK WHEATHER IT IS PROBLEM OF A CONTROLLER 0R HDA UNIT....
IF YOU HAVE SAME HDD ,(MEANS SAME IN FIRMWARE VERSION).

FIRSTLY PHYSCALLY CHECK CONTROLLER THAT IT SEEMS OK OR NOT...

SWAP IT SAFELY ...(CAUTION:IF HDA CONTAIN BURNT OR SHORT CHIP CONTROLLER WILL DAMAGE .TRY IT ON YOU OWN RISK.)
IF IT WORK PROPERPLY.THIS MEANS IT IS PROBLEM OF CONTROLLER.YOU NEED TO KNOW ELECTONICS TO REPAIR IT.

IF IT IS PROBLEM OF HDA.IT NEED A LOT OF INFORMATION FOR PROVIDING YOU A SOLUTION .

YOU WILL HAVE TO DO A LOT OF WORK TO REPAIR IT.

FIRSTLY FIND OUT ,IT IS A PROBLEM OF HDA OR CONTROLLER.

THANKS

Thanks.
Controller change has been already made. It is sure that there is a HDA problem. Because both electronics worked on good drive but neither did properly on the bad one.
I made a test with mhdd program. I could read all infromation of good hdd, but it couldn't even see the bad hdd.
I can't decide if there is a head preamplifier or firmware problem.
Do you know how to change firmware on this bad drive?
Thanks.

Don't everyone yell at me for this...

But maybe hot-swap the controller from working drive to non-working drive?

Never had any of these Fujitsu's that I wasn't able to get going by just being persistent.

But I've never done a hot-swap on one, either.

Thanks,
Phil

IF YOU HAD SAME HDD (SAME IN FRIMWARE) .
DO YOU HAVE ANY FRIWARE CHECK SOFTWARE ?
U CAN YOU OLD VERSION OF VICTORIA AND OLD VERSION OF MHDD FOR THIS.THERE ARE MANY ULITITES ON FUJITSU.

TRY ALL THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK.....

RUN UTILITY WITH GOOD(OK) HDD.
STOP SPINDLE (DO NOT PLUG OUT POWER & ATA CABLE)
HOT SWAP CONTROLLER WITH BAD DRIVE .

thanks

RUN UTILITY WITH GOOD(OK) HDD.
I have already tried all fujitsu programs but they run firmware update only for MPG, but I have MPF.

If you sent me Vicotria program (I haven't even seen or used this porgram) and a well working mhdd, I would be grateful. email:kertaif@freemail.hu

"STOP SPINDLE (DO NOT PLUG OUT POWER & ATA CABLE) " I don't understand that. I should stop hdd spindle (on the working drive), but shouldn't plug out neither power nor data cable?
If I understand well, it means that I start the computer and the porgram with the working drive which is recognized by them. Then I should take off the good one and put back the bad one, and then I should make a try?
