How to fix bad firmwae on Maxtor D540X-4K 80GB

March 19th, 2006, 12:04

Hey Guys,

I do have a problem with my Maxtor D540X-4K 80GB Harddrive. It is not recognized by the Bios any more. I figured out that this might be a firmware error on the HDD. So I checked some forums to see if it is possible to fix it. I heard that HDDL (http://pchdd.narod.ru/) might be able to fix the firmware. Unfortunately my drive is not supported on their website and I do not know Russian to read their manuals.

Can somebody explain to me how I use HDDL and what parameters I need or the process?

If there is another way to fix it, any suggestions are highly appreciated as well…

Thanks

Daniel
