Seagate Momentus 40GB ST94811A HDD PW SET

August 4th, 2006, 12:29

Hi,

i hope someone can give me a tip.

I have an Seagate Momentus 40GB ST94811A HDD with an HDD PW set.

I didnt know the PW anymore but i want to go on using this HDD.

The DATA on it isnt needed any more. I have an Backup.

Now i tried to boot with MHDD and to erase the HDD by Using the Standard Master PW from Seagate but none of them worked.

I have tried:

Seagate
SEQGQTE
SRAGATR

but none of them seems to work.

I wanted to set the HDD to SECURE ERASE PREPARE and then SECURE ERASE UNIT but without the master PW for this Seagate HDD there is no way.

The Second thing i heard about is to update the Firmware of the HDD, cause of an Bug so that the Password is gone after updating the firmware.
I have found the correct firmware by HDDGURU but as bin files and i dont know how to bring them on the HDD.

Does anyone knows the right tool for it ??

BIG THANKS.
MFG
