Hi Everyone.

Here's my problem.

I have a FUTJITSU MHT2060AT Drive witch the spindle motor is not spinning so I try to replace the PCB by an exactly matching one. Then the drive start spinning but clicking Taugh :( . I'm not able to read the rom from PC3K its alway giving me "Drive not ready" error. I tried to start it in Standby Mode as in the manual from FUTJITSU not much.

My question is do anybody know how to make this drive ready in PC3K. Or witch chip contain the rom information so I could transfert this chip from one to the other.

Best regards.

Hello,

About the ROM: I would suggest some googling for the part numbers to see which is what.
If the drive was burnt by overvoltage we cannot exclude some damagge to the inner preamp IC, this could cause knocking.
"an exactly matching one": what does this mean? which parameters has been matched?
AFAIK U need to match the version code bellow the Rev.No., the last 4 characters are important.

regards,
pepe

Pepe,

Thanks a lot for taking time to reply me on this one. Unfortunatly my last 4 digit match but I read somewhere (By doing my homework) that we need to match the last 6 digit. The preamp IC maight be busted thaugh the customer unplug is hard drive while the computer where running :x .

I saw a lot of reply from you on other topics I want to thanks you for giving us this help.

i think u have replaced the wrong pcb that is why the drvie started knocking there must be a problem with the power supply of your old pcb that is dead . On that pcb or check the resistance near the power connector they must have been fused or check the other componenets near the connector .
