Hi,

I've got an issue with my Seagate HDD like some others also have.
When connecting the drive to the PC it hangs. Also if connecting to an
external power supply control LED of supply is flashing.
So it seems TVS is shortened. (I don't know anything, but read a couple
of times about it ,-) )

Before i found this website and forum i bought a new drive, because
i thought i could replace the PCB.
But when replacing it on defect drive with the new on, i only hear
clicking sounds.

But know i read so many about different pcb versions, also on
same model, and firmware versions.
Seems i need your help.

1) Does anybody have a schematic diagram for this model's pcb?
I want to ask a friend to help replacing the tvs.
(I'm not doing the welding. He's the expert)

2) Or: can i use the new PCB to try to get the HDD running to safe data?
and how?

Firmware versions:
defect HDD: 4.40
"new" HDD: 3.06

thanks in advance

jones :-)=

hi rameez,

thanks for your reply.
if you're talking about model no, do you mean model no of the hdd
or of the pcb?

The new disk i bought is the same model, but different origin country.
Any way to update the PCB with new Firmware version?

regards

he means the same model no. not pcb no.
u must have same PCB to apply on ur defective hdd with same model and fw..compare the defective hdd's PCB and new hdd's PCB physically..
