original pc board on MK6021GAS

March 3rd, 2007, 1:15

Could someone please tell me if data from a MK6021GAS be recovered in case the original pc board is not present?

Why I need this... (long story)!
1. My Toshiba satellite p25-s507 laptop's hard drive crashed suddenly without any warnings whatsoever.

2. I took it to a Toshiba authorized service station, but there the person told me that the hard drive itself is not spinning. Since the hard drive is not spinning, the usual data recovery softwares are of no use. He tried changing the PC board, but found that it is not a problem with the pc board.

3. Next I gave the drive to rescuemydata.com for data recovery. They informed me that the motor has gone bad and can be repaired. However, it seems that the "pc board" on the hard drive is not the original one. Without the original pc board is it not possible to recover the data?

The first service person cliams that he kept the original electric board back on the harddrive, but the person at rescuemydata.com claims that it is not the original pc board. I do not know who to believe...

I would be happy if any of you can answer the following questions

a) Given a hard drive, is it possible to correctly tell whether it has the original pc board or not?
b) Is it possible to recover data from a MK6021GAS hard drive without original circuit board?
c) If so, could you recommend a proven data recovery service who can do this? (I am willing to pay reasonable amount of money!)

Any advice, comments, suggestions are really appreciated.

BTW, if it matters, I live in NY, USA.

thanks

Hi,kamaraju
a)it is possible to check if this is the right board or not.
b)i don´t think so - maybe Toshiba has a solution but for what reason,
they do not data recovery :?:
c)if you will send it to me send a pm and I will tell you further details.

If yr. drive has motor problems even if it(the motor)does not spin it is recoverable.
Hope it helps a little bit for the moment :)

All of the original adaptives for this drive are stored in the ROM on the board, not in the system area like other drives. So unless you are really lucky with a match that has similar adaptives, then chances are you won't be able to recover without the original board.
