I'm having a problem with a Maxtor 3400 (model 31024H1, code YAH814Y0, TI DSP chipset) that is being detected as Proxima. From what I've gathered, Proxima is the drive's factory name, meaning that there's a problem with the HDD firmware.
Anyone knows how I can recover the data off it? Would swapping the logic board with an identical one help or is there another simpler cost-effective (non-PC3000) way?
Any suggestion would be appreciated. TIA.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give this a go. By HDD Repair, did you mean Flobo HDD Repair?
