ST340015A Problem, please help!

April 18th, 2007, 6:20

Hi!

Not too hot on Seagate, so please try and help me out with this one?

ST340015A drive, will not ID. Spins up terminal shows:

Interface task reset
Hd Msk 0A00 - Switch to full int.
Ready
RSM Not OK
Key 02h Err!
ROM.Mstr

After the "Ready" part, terminal waits while drive makes several "retry" sounds.

Drive is ID'd only as "STxxxxxxx" size 0Mb

I am thinking head problem? Anyone confirm?

PCB checked on another drive, it is OK.

TIA

Sean

Problem solved.

Faulty head.

Replaced head, now drive OK and data recovered.
