Maxtor Proxima?

April 19th, 2007, 11:49

I'm having a problem with a Maxtor 3400 (model 31024H1, code YAH814Y0, TI DSP chipset) that is being detected as Proxima. From what I've gathered, Proxima is the drive's factory name, meaning that there's a problem with the HDD firmware.
Anyone knows how I can recover the data off it? Would swapping the logic board with an identical one help or is there another simpler cost-effective (non-PC3000) way?
Any suggestion would be appreciated. TIA.

Swapping the pcb wont do u any good as the firmware is stored on the HDA , and for fixing this problem u can use HDD repair it can fix firmware problems but not all of them , its quite a limited tool but u can give it a try .
