Im just curious,
has anyone tried the new Salvationdata product for WD drives?
Please share your experience fro this product. Does the GUI work well?
How about the flash programmer?

I think It would be a great, if we all could share our experience and thoughts on free and comercial tools.

Thanks for the input.

I'm going to buy this in a few weeks. I'll be reporting back here right away if there are problems with it.

Does anyone else know about it?

If Salvation stuff sucks. What do you use to reprogrammed ROM and things like that?

I would like to get started but I don't have $10,000+ for pc3000.

Thank very much for your help.

mikeclarke,

For myself the best WD ROM reprogrammer is an hot air rework station (Around 200$ on ebay), get a batch of WD PCB (Different layout). Then unsolder the rom and resolder it to the working one to have a perfect matching repaired PCB. For myself I rarely saw a firmware problem with WD its most likely either Mechanical or PCB Problem.

Regards

I have juts bought this device and I'm satisfied with it.
I don't know anything about PC3000, but the price was too big, so I decided to buy SalvationData solution. As for now it works good (I exchanged firmware in few drives and it helped), but I haven't tested separate flash programmer yet. When I do it I will write about the results.
