MAxtor Problem

MAxtor Problem i have one maxtor plus 9 80gb drive clayspo III itis pcb didnot power up i try to change power ic without change happen so where is problem?
and i place defeat pcb by another pcb from same model but it for 60Gb and pcb have 3 8pin ics and the main have 2 pin ics so how i know problem in main pcb or how to make pcb of 60gb work on 80gb

Size does not matter on these. I've used PCB's from 80Gb models to work perfectly on 160Gb models.

If the original PCB did not have a ROM at U401, then any PCB without ROM from same family will work.

If original has ROM, then u need board with ROM and move original ROM across.

Hi,

there is a fusible resistor on calypso III boards that usualy burns when the motor controller fails. It is located besides R504, but a smaller one.
U should also check Q500, this is often shorted when the L7250 burns, and if so, the new one will be gone soon.
