Hi,

I have a Maxtor 250gb ATA 133 HD which burned while booting it as a slave.

I have successfully replaced its motherboard, or logical board.

It is now working, but does not boot, neither as a master, nor as a slave.

I have been told that it is a problem with the "zero trail".

How can I fix it and recover the data?

Any other idea to recover the data?

Finally, if the data is lost forever, how can I fix the HD to work again?

Thanks,

Marcelo.

PS sorry if my technical english is not so good!

I am waiting for the same help you are.

It seems to be a tough problem, even these days, very few people can solve it, and those who can, charge a lot for it.

Here in Brasil, it is the same, they ask a fortune to get the data back.

Funny thing is; what kind of tools these companies use, that are so secret that we can not find them on the net?

Another funny thing is; my data is ok, only the logical board burned. Then, they say "we have to get your data back before we fix the hd".

Bullshit, to get the data, they have to fix, once fixed, the data is there!

Good luck, and let me know if you find a solution. I will do the same for you.

Rgds,

Marc.

Hello Spildit,

Thanks man, a friend of mine who is an expert will try to help me out, and is happy to receive your hints.

We have detected a chip which is clearly damaged. First we will try to simply replace it. Hope it will work.

Tks,

Marcelo.
