Hi,
I have a Fujitsu MHU2100AT (2.5") with a faulty logicboard.
What are the criteria for a successful change on those.
The one that I have, has a FW revision: 0BFF8C-00000008.

I know that the same model is a must, but the rest, what is a must? The whole FW number, or just a part of it?

Regards

Bosse

just chek the processor chip that should match with the donor then swap ROM .

Thanks Rameez,
How can I swap ROM if the board is faulty?
Do you know what is the criteria for swap board?
I have found one with the same model, but with this FW 0BFF5B-00000008
Will that work you think?

If board is faulty it doesnot mean that the ROM is also faulty u can unsolder the ROM from the orignal board and replace it in the donor pcb.
This is neccesary bcz ROM contains adaptive data that is unique for that drive .

Thanks for the quick reply.
Okey so just change pcb on those drives is not possible, so change pcb and desolder and change ROM will do the trick.
What aboute the donar pcb, is there any restricktion there, or is it just one in the same family (MHU2100AT)?

Rameez, just another thought.
How can I determ if the ROM is ok before I desolder the chip.
I have Pc3000 and the drive spinns up, becomes ready, there is no noises from the drive and it don't ID it self.

There is no size restricition only the main processor should be the same for swapping ROM . For checking ROM unsolder it and if u have EPROM programmer read its contents using it if it reads then ROM is ok .

Hi,
in this case it is not very probable U are having a PCB problem.
If it was, the drive either would not spin or click very probably.

If ROM is broken - drive will not spin.

Thanks for all your input.
Doomer, how can I check the SA, when I can't get the drive to ID....and therefor can't launch the utillity?
I got the 2.27 and it can just handle Fujitsu drives up to MHT...or?

When I start the drive there is the usal small ratteling sound for the drive to become ready.
after that....nothing, just spinns.

MHDD can tell you a lot about Fujitsu 2.5".

Give report about bulbs in MHDD when connecting.

Hi coffeebean, the only thing I got in MHDD was "Device not ready".
It looks like this in Pc3000:

Or is it necessary with UDMA in this case?

OK,

Connect to MHDD - report on sequence of bulbs on power up.
then report on reset and ID..

btw. MHT and after are very, very quite drives ......
so if you getting some slight clicking then not so good.

Try also your pc3000 pci with universal utility.

Hi there,
I only got: DRSC, DRDY, AMNF, the same on reset (F3) and INIT.
Yep, and this drive is quiet..I have to put my ear against it to hear something at all.
I have done that aswell, and it won't ID it self there either, and when it comes to the menu of drives, this model is not in the list, only in UDMA I guess.

It seems to read the modules okey.

Any suggestions how to get this drive to accept normal (pc3000) commands?
