how to disable bad head in wd and resize hdd

salam alekm hello hdd with head map 0,2,3 and head 2 is bad hdd is wd600ab 00cba1 when we disable head 2 and regenrate translator it start click so what steps of doing this? mr aviko told me in cases like this i must edit the hdd id i want to know how to do it in steps

After disable head you must clear defect lists (P-list, G-list)....

Hi,
And Do Not Forget That Any References in the Plist To disabled Head Should Not Be There According To The Manuals.Also You Should Read The Manual From Top To Bottom And Bottom To Top Once .You Will Get 100% Result .

how to erase only defects that in bad head from plist or u mean i erase all plist?

i Mean Delete Only Entries That Point To Disabled Head .Otherwise The Process Gets More Complex And Takes More Time

must i also edit hdd id to the new size?

and plz what parameters of 40 gb hdd cyl head sector>?

first disable translator then clear plist from defects of that head then disable that head restart hdd set cylinders with drive id then do internal formatting if u dont need data .
