Hello guys, if u can read this post peter, starling .DF, dobrevjetserand ,jono...and all hdd gurus´ i had tried all options and problem still maybe u can give me an idea to get a little hope to get data back

this is the story :(

WD400BB-75DKA0
On first when i receive the HDD was showing the typical SA problem , not knock but not detect on BIOS, and after some time shows DRDY DSC, so on first access, and try to did the backup of SA, but my mistake was not backup the tracks, "the strange part was detect like WD400LB and not WD400BB im try to get a donnor and check how was detect the donnor was detect like BB "only modules, the bad modules was smart, translator, logs the typical WD SA problems , so after try to repaired i check it SA again, and find more modules damaged, so i try to put again the backup of modules, and not show any problem while was writing the modules, tried to check SA again, and show more module damaged, so i tried to erase the full SA area with 00h, and write again the modules, not show any problem while was writing again, check again, the SA structure and my GOD al modules show´s with damaged all tracks etc, So im try a hot swap with a Donnor, Same Model, head map etc, i writed P list on donnor and did a regen translator, then try the hot swap, nothing :( , so test heads and show´s all heads with damaged, So my another choice was get the Head swap using donnor MHA, well the same problem, not knock , but after some while show´s DRDY DSC check SA again, and still showing the SA with all modules bad, all copies, etc, try to return the heads to donnor HDA, and check SA again, HDD recalibrate OK, detect by BIOS show DRDY DSC, checking SA all OK,
So on my last option try to write the ROM on Donnor PCB , check SA again, and all BAD

Thanks

Sinceraly

Alberto

Sorry Alberto, I have no clue.
I suppose the writing head was defective, or the positionning was bad, which damaged the modules.
I got the same problem once, but could not resolve it.

Hello dobrevjetser

Im think on the head defective too, but i had changed with a donnor, at show the same modules damaged, and even try to return the head to MHA donnor thinking on some thing its damaged over the media. so i return the Head to MHA donnor, thinking maybe are died now too, but after return i check , the recalibration sound, detect By BIOS, show DRDY DSC; all OK, even check SA and all modules OK on donnor

the modules damaged on the first was Translator, Smart , Smart logs, G list, and now iits damaged all cylinders on SA, i had try to find some info about any -cyl, but when did the search shows all cylinders with damaged,

Thanks

Alberto,

The damage was done by the original head.
Putting a good head in will not solve the problem.
I think the only thing you can try is hot-swap, but with good heads in the drive.
However, i think your chances are not very high.
BTW, do you have a copy of the adaptive modules ? You will need these!

Good Luck,

Dobre

Dobre got a point. Try smart hot swap if you still have original translator.

Hi,

I also think there is something wrong with the writing. So I would suggest to replace the MHA and the PCB as well after writing the patient ROM to the donor PCB.
then try formatting the SA and writing back the original mods.
they should be OK if the servo labels were not damaged.
I also had a case with an AVVN40 (and an AVVA40 some months ago) drive that had bad PCB causing the head to damage the data all over the surface of side 1.

Hello guys

This is are the news:(

i try Hot swap, from the donnor and cant, because when i send the Sleep command, on donnor, dont answer me BSY , so im try the another suggestion, put again Donnor Heads on patient HDA, write ROM on Donnor PCB; Erase SA, and write back modules so i do that, then reload microcode, and ....

Now start but stop motor, all the time :?

What could be wrong Servo Mark Damaged, ?? And cant find the servo sector´s so this case need to go to the garbage? :(

Thanks

Sinceraly

Another new

how was turn on and turn off, im try the method for prevent the stream of data on RDx,RDy and access, DRDY DSC, and not show any problem, try the SA check, and all modules show like OK, after write tracks from donnor on HDA patient, and modules from patient question , i dont have patient tracks, so if i write the modules from patient would be same like write tracks ?

Best Regards

Alberto
