 Post subject: Looking for WD 2060-701444-004 PCB board

I think my PCB board for this hdd has gone... this is the part no.. WD 2060-701444-004 PCB.. its western digital WD5000AAVS 500gb hdd.. does anyone have this part in stock

I get a clicking sound on my hard drive.. It does spin.... I opened the pcb and found that the contacts looks wore off... the multi pin connector on the hard drive that touches the pcb.. the contacts on the pcb should be golden while some are them show dark like it has burnt... can you suggest how i can determine if the pcb is working or not

Just rub the contacts with an eraser and they should clean up pretty good. It's pretty normal for most WD PCB head contacts to be disscoloured, I wouldn't worry about it.

In your case it's a 99% chance the heads is your drive are dying which will need a clean room and special tools. I wouldn't attempt this recovery yourself.

Those pcb has common problem -corrosion everywhere. I would start from changing pcb first, especialy if chips has dark legs.
