Hello,

My friend has got problems with his system.
When he starts his computer the system doens't go past the xp logo.
Starting in safe mode will not work and recover will also not work.

At this point we bought a new hd and installed windows on it.
Wyhen I put his original hd on slave and the new hd on master the windows will not past the windows xp logo.
Also when I put the hd on secondary port on master it will not work.

I had an external usb dvd rom drive, when I put this hd on the external usb device it wil not work.

When I went to my neighbour to borrow her usb external hd driver and connect it to my computer my system say it found new hardware after that in the ballon right bottom it say wd600 ect.ect.
But not that hardware is success installed. Also i don't see an extra disk in mycomputer.
If i turn of the power of the usb I see very quickly a new disk in my computer but disapears immediatly.

We really need to recover some data of the disk. What else can i do to try and get some data of it.
I now am downloading knoppix and hope for the best, but now fiddeling around for 2 days i really need some help. The hd is being recognized in the bios.

First of all you should use MHDD for example to understand what kind of problem is affecting the hdd.
